Inspiring experience
At the bend in the road, lined with lush vegetation, stands the majestic dwelling of Saint-Étienne, listed as an ISMH site since 2006. Crossed by the River Lézarde, between Saint-Joseph and Gros Morne, it is part of a landscape typical of the north of the island. The Habitation was built on the land of La Maugée, a former sugar refinery that covered more than 400 hectares in the early 19th century. The mansion overlooks the distillery and the former workers' huts. Visit the gardens, which boast a collection of 180 species of species and rare trees from all over the world and were awarded the "Remarkable Garden" label in 2015. Discover the HSE rum bottling line and the "Les Foudres HSE" room, where the range of rums is on display and available for tasting.
