Inspiring experience
At the bend in the road, lined with lush vegetation, stands the majestic dwelling of Saint-Étienne, listed as an ISMH site since 2006. Crossed by the River Lézarde, between Saint-Joseph and Gros Morne, it is part of a landscape typical of the north of the island. The Habitation was built on the land of La Maugée, a former sugar refinery that covered more than 400 hectares in the early 19th century. The mansion overlooks the distillery and the former workers' huts. Visit the gardens, which boast a collection of 180 species of species and rare trees from all over the world and were awarded the "Remarkable Garden" label in 2015.
