Pilotin artist Christophe Mert opens the doors to an inner quest. His passion for art began as a child, when expressing himself through drawing became a necessity, a rumbling need to let certain questions out. Painting is about life experience, but it's also about a quest for the self, and the artist refers to the multicultural origins that structure her identity and, more broadly, the culture of the West Indies. Between references to Africa and Amerindian vestiges, it is through a diversity of media, materials and techniques that he expresses a human balance, a strength of identity.
