Saint-Anne

This picturesque commune in the extreme south of the island offers Martinique its most beautiful beaches... White sand, turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, coconut palms... Whether they're called : Baie des Anglais, Cap Chevalier, Anse Caritan, Pointe Marin, Anse Trabaud, and so on. they look straight out of a postcard.

La Grande Anse des Salines, 3 km beach, perfect arc of a circle,  is the best-known and certainly one of the most beautiful in the West Indies.

Beyond the pointe des Salines stretches la Savane des Pétrifications. A remnant of a forest swallowed up by lava, this arid, deserted expanse was once littered  with silicified woods, agates, blocks of polychrome jasper, now gone.

Beaches and water sports are not the only assets of Sainte-Anne, which also offers pleasant hikes or walks: la Trace des Caps (from l'Anse Caritan to Baie des Anglais), ascent of Piton Crève-Cœur.

Also worth seeing:

  • Le Moulin Val d'Or, Les Jardins de la Mer, on the way to Club Med,
  • Only from the sea, the Réserve Ornithologique des îlets de Sainte-Anne, managed by the Parc Naturel Régional de la Martinique.
  • Club Méditerranée, tourist residences, charming hotels and numerous typical restaurants complete the panel. This is the island's most touristic commune.
  • In 2003, the town of Sainte-Anne was awarded the "Ruban Bleu de l'Ecologie" trophy,  for its actions to protect the environment and promote sustainable development
