Rejuvenating experience
On the north-western slopes of Montagne Pelée, the River Couleuvre rises on the slopes of Piton Pierreux and flows into Anse Couleuvre beach.
A discovery trail built in 2007 follows the river for around 1,600 metres.
It offers an uninterrupted series of wild and grandiose landscapes that are quite unexpected. The trail starts at the Anse couleuvre car park in Le Prêcheur.
The further upstream you go, the steeper the gradient.
At the start of the trail, you will come across the ruins of a bridge, a cassava vat, numerous cocoa trees and zamanas.
After the first 150 metres, the terrain becomes progressively more rugged, giving the route a diverse landscape and an increasingly wild character.
