Rejuvenating experience
Saint Joseph has the largest forested area in Martinique.
Located in the north-east of the island, it represents over a third of the commune's total surface area, or nearly 1,500 hectares of forest, managed and protected by the Office National des Forêts (ONF).
This exceptional site is fed by the Rivière Blanche. The quality of the river's waters makes it a popular bathing spot, and two water treatment plants supply drinking water to the centre and part of the south of the island.
Cœur Bouliki was created in July 1983, under the impetus of the ONF and all those who, like Gisèle BAKA, have worked to restore and develop this area in the Durand district.
