Would you like to do something for the planet?

When I think of Martinique, I dream directly of its heavenly beaches, its secret islets, its breathtaking views and its exceptionally rich seabed. Because believe me, it would be a real shame to come to Martinique without treating yourself to a moment of relaxation or adventure by setting off on a boat trip on its crystal-clear waters.

Lovers of relaxation and idleness, marine discovery enthusiasts and groups of friends in search of adventure, there's bound to be a boat trip made for you!

Let me guide you, I'll take you on a ride on blue waters you'll never forget!

What kind of boat excursions should you choose?

Pretty curious by nature, I've always loved trying my hand at all the activities on offer during my adventures. It's a good thing, because in Martinique, whatever your mood or your desires, you're bound to find the right excursion !

Summary of the principal proposals for existing boat outings on the island:

Discover the white bottom and Josephine's bathtub

The fonds blancsare a particularity of Martinique and you can't explore the island without taking advantage of this incredible natural gem.

This is a true paradise beach underwater, a place where the sea is very shallow (even far from the beach!) and the white sandy bottom is almost flush with the surface of the water. A sort of exceptional beach, a protected and safe space for children where the water is transparent and warm, there are no swells and the colors are magnificent.

The perfect place to take your most beautiful photos with a cocktail in hand!

My must-see? Josephine's Bathtub, an emblematic spot where parents and children are bound to be seduced.

Exploring the islets

The islets of Le François and du Robert, such asIslet Chancelor Islet Madame, are perfect for a getaway blending nature and history. Some service providers organize picnics or rum tastings.

Did you know: Islet Chancel is the largest of Martinique's islets, of which there are almost fifty! It's unique because, in addition to its white seabed and magnificent archaeological site, it's home to some amazing flora and fauna... In particular a very rare population, the Lesser Antillean Iguanas!

Try your hand at snorkeling and diving

I challenge you to find me something more beautiful than Martinique's seabed... it's just magical!

Whether you're novice or pro of diving, you're sure to get an eyeful. On the Caribbean coast, opt for outings to Anse Noire and Anse Dufour: two little corners of paradise where you can swim with turtles! (My tip: come early in the morning for a privileged tête-à-tête with them). For an even more incredible adventure, head for the mythical Rocher du Diamant. Between underwater caves and colored fish, it's a breathtaking spot. And for wreck lovers, direct to the northern Caribbean, around Saint-Pierre: here, sunken ships tell fascinating stories while offering unique diving spots... Unforgettable!!

My little practical tips:

  • Think about bringing a mask and snorkel (some boats don't lend them).
  • Use biodegradable sunscreen to protect the coral reefs.
  • And above all, respect nature: admire the turtles and fish from afar without touching them, they'll thank you  !

One thing's for sure, you're going to love it. Ready to dive?

Meet the dolphins and whales

And if I told you about dolphins and whales... I knew it! Who hasn't dreamed of crossing their paths offshore and admiring them gracefully swimming around the boat?

Are you up for it? Then head for around Diamond Rock or the North Caribbean for a magical rencounter with dolphins. In season (February to April), it's even possible to spot whales!

Sunsets at sea

There's nothing like a boat trip at the end of the day to watch the sun set over the horizon.

PS: Some companies will even offer you a glass of champagne! What do the people want?

Boat privatization

Dreaming of donning the captain's jacket? You can also privatize a boat, with or without a skipper. Perfect for celebrating a beautiful event or enjoying a moment of privacy. Cast off!

Choose a catamaran excursion

Are you more into relaxation, comfort and serenity outings? Choose a catamaran outing! You'll be able to enjoy the sunshine and gentle breeze on the net suspended over the water lulled by the lapping of the waves... Need I say more?

Activities on offer
Tanning, swimming in the white seabed, snorkeling, local tastings...

Meals on board
Some catamarans offer traditional menus prepared on site, while others take you straight to the locals to enjoy an authentic Martinique meal. And you'll see, there's no comparison!

Ambiance
The catamaran is perfect for a relaxing day out with friends or family, with plenty of space for sunbathing and enjoying the panorama. Signing up?

What to plan for a successful boating trip

Here's a little checklist to make sure you don't forget anything and get the most out of your day at sea:

  • Your essentials: swimsuit, towel, sunglasses, sunscreen (biodegradable if possible).
  • Practical accessories: waterproof bag to protect your belongings, headgear, and a small sweater for the chilliest.
  • snorkeling equipment: masks and snorkels are not always provided, so remember to take them with you if you want to explore the seabed.
  • A picnic or snack: if a meal is not included in your excursion, pack something to nibble on. The sea digs in! You'll often be offered a tasting of accras and a baptism of rum. And in the land of the world's only AOC rum, I can tell you it's worth it!
