Le Lamentin

At the center of the island, at the crossroads between the south and the north, neighboring the capital, Le Lamentin is Martinique's second largest city. The Aimé Césaire international airport is one of its assets...

Le Lamentin has a lot going for it: it is Martinique's largest town (6232 ha), and is crossed by the Lézarde river, the island's longest waterway at 35 km. In the past, the Lézarde was populated by manatees, the aquatic mammals from which its name derives.

A veritable economic lung, it is home to: the only oil refinery in the Antilles Guyane, industrial and commercial activity zones, large shopping centers... In this fertile plain, sugarcane fields and banana plantations stretch as far as the eye can see.

A host of high-quality sports facilities: departmental racecourse, stadium, tennis courts, swimming pool, sports hall, etc.

The diverse hinterland is ideal for walks and hiking. On the seafront, the Port Cohé marina is also home to a yacht club.

Sightseeing: the Roseraie Burnet, a vast plantation of temperate (80,000 rosebushes) and tropical flowers, the Favorite distillery in the Gondeau district, Espace Perrine, a vast friendly and fun park for family outings....

The Office de la Culture and the Office de Tourisme organize a rich and varied program of events and animations (exhibitions, theater, concerts, conferences, festivals, etc.

) throughout the year.
