Les Anses d'Arlet

This is a fishing commune whose magnificent beach makes it a sought-after vacation spot. The enchanting site of Grande-Anse serves as a refuge for many sailboats.

"Arlet" was, it is said, like his brother "Pilote" , one of the Caribbean chiefs to have collaborated with the first settlers and who therefore left in gratitude his name to the district where a parish was built by the Jesuits.

In 1837 , the commune was created by grouping together the districts of Anses d'Arlet, of Sainte Luce (detached in 1848) and of Diamond (detached in 1862). Certain coves were the scene of battles against the English who sought to take control of the îlet à Ramiers.

Les Anses d'Arlet is, today, an authentic and endearing fishermen's commune, sure to seduce those who discover it as well as those who return. It's a magnificent anchorage for the many pleasure boats that frequent it and the traditional boats of the fishermen.

It's worth discovering the numerous beaches and coves around Anses d'Arlet : Anse Noire, Anse Dufour, Anse Maturin, Grande-Anse, Anse Chaudière, Plage du Bourg and Petite-Anse.
