With its mission to provide the finest, most modern and comprehensive meeting and convention facilities in the entire Caribbean, the Madiana Palais des Congrès in Schoelcher, just minutes from the heart of Martinique's capital city, opened in October 1998.
Original in concept, the Convention Center boasts three major attributes. First, its projection and sound equipment, as well as its acoustics, are superb, since it can also serve as a multiplex cinema. Second, the Center is privately owned and operated by a firm belonging to the Mediagestion Group, which has perfected operations in theaters for half a century and now has expanded into communications and catering. Third, the level of services and staffing will be geared to the highest international standards, compatible with both U.S. and European Union specifications.
On the ground level of the fully air-conditioned Palais is a huge lobby and exhibition hall totaling 45,000 square feet. Here, too, are restaurants, a book and record store, pharmacy, and additional on-site business service facilities. On the second level are a dozen theaters ranging in size from 125 to 500 tiered or movable seats, a VIP lounge, a 645-square foot banquet hall, modular meeting rooms with 300 square feet and a 265-square foot terrace with beautiful sea views.
Technical equipment includes 100 direct telephone lines, an electronic notice board in the lobby, all-wave TV connections, full computer availability, a permanent interpreters' booth, and an infrared interpreting system, as well as secretarial service on request.
To assure a truly personalized welcome above and beyond its technological offerings, the Madiana Palais des Congrès provides ground transfers, arranges accommodations in hotels that from 2-star to deluxe, helps with complete restaurant and catering services, organizes social programs, and offers excursions designed to acquaint visitors with the wealth of cultural and natural attractions that Martinique has to offer.

In the center of Fort-de-France, L'Atrium cultural center offers another option for business or educational gatherings.
The cultural center has four meeting rooms and two auditoriums which can accommodate up 896 guests.
Activities and Events
Martinique offers a wealth of activities for groups and a large variety of venues for events.
Events such as gala dinners and cocktail receptions can be organized in old plantation homes, on the beach or in a hotel. The Clement Plantation and distillery, an 18th century plantation home on a beautiful estate is one of the favorite locations for these events.
La Pagerie museum in Trois-Ilets, Empress Josephine's estate, can also host events in the park on the grounds.
In the north of the island, the Saint-James distillery and estate is a superb site for events up to 200 guests.
And off the coast of François, private islands known as les Ilets de l'Impératrice, Ilet Thierry and Ilet Oscar also accommodate groups during the day or in the evening for themed parties (the Carnival theme is quite popular) with groups up to 70 people.
